Combining and moving my blogs

Blogger is a bitch to manage in my opinion, plus I use it only for these blogs of mine so I thought a bit and decided to move them to Tumblr. Tumblr is a blog, but it has better layouts and is more suited to the kind of multimedia spam I provide.

Short story is short, so here are the links you might want to RSS into or somesuch. I also started blogging bilingually, so there are separate blogs for English and Finnish audiences (same content)

Hardest part done and I like it!

No, not this one. This is the shoulder, quite easy.

Here we go.

Antenna.

Oh my...

Yeah!

So, the helmet. Definitely the hardest part of the whole build due to the very threedimensional shape of it. The planning and headscratching took the whole weekend, but all in all just a couple of days of actual cutting/gluing and I got that done. The rest of this armour is composed of very flat shapes so I'm still confident that I can do this in time...and some sleepless nights.

I can also say that seeing myself in the mirror with THAT on my head made me giggle a bit :d

Here we really go!

What's this then? Says it on the label: Detonator Orgun!

Oh yeaaaaaaa....

Doesn't look like Orgun you say? How observant of you. This is a piece that goes under all that white, to get the bulkiness and also to act as a base to which I can secure all that...armour. I have mockups of the whole upper body lying around here, but they're not photogenic just yet so you just have to believe me here.

I'm confident and utterly pumped, been planning and testing this for a while now in between other stuff.

There's another, different project going on too. Multitask.

Pictures will follow this week. If I work hard it should be ready for Desucon Frostbite, but no promises there.

Do it again until it works.

Those blades, in the back of the axe. The aluminiumwiretapethingamajigs didn't work quite as well as I'd hoped, so I ripped them out and made these.

These will work. I know it.

Trying to mend my lack of knowledge

No pain, no gain. The axe has these little blades on the back, but because of my lack of experience with expanding foam (or anything really, this is my first prop that has come this far) I did not make a proper template for the foam to stick on...or where I'm going to cut! These might be redone, but we'll see now that the foam is drying again.

The Pain™

In my upper back! Prevented me from doing anything yesterday and it's only now subsiding...that's what I get from skipping gym for too long.

Anyway, back to work.
